Hi all,

Been a while...everythings going well in the land of Green. Job rocks, boss sucks.

To get to the point:

Auditions

This Saturday (29th) we're holding audtions at the Garage (Chapelfield North) for the next production: 'A New England' a play set in Brixton in 1981 about Racism, Ska and the National Front.
So basically we're looking for Punks/Rudies/alternatypes, there's loads of parts from the Main characters to club fillers. Whatever your experience is, we don't care, come and give it ago! (Unless your under 18, 'cos of the themes of the play we can't let you in. Sorry)
There's 2 times to come along 11am or 2pm, you can come to either or both if you really want!
If you have any questions send an email to anewengland@hotmail.com and I shall try and answer them. The Auditions will consist of some impro games and some script reading and will last about 1.5 hrs.

...this is not an update, it's a yet another shameless plug for the festival. So to keep you happy, here's some stuff about me. I just got over a cold, I have a hideous cough. I started a new job last Monday at that place, TRO, where I worked last summer. I am the Fleet Administrator. It's easy and the company's really cool to work for, so this is good. Also, bizarrely, I work for Declan's Dad (for those of you that know Declan). When I say 'work for' Me & him are the Transport Department. Other than that I have mainly been working on Alice, which brings me to...

Stage Management Workshop and Backstage Crew- Elli Chapman (who
knows everything about arts in Norfolk ever and has done every arts
job ever and is lovely) will be running a workshop at The Garage,
Tuesday 24th Jan 7-8pm covering cueing up a script for stage managing
and other essential Stage Management-y type things. As always, answer
on a postcard to christina@visceraltheatre.org.uk

place. People who are going to be backstage crew for the festival
generally or who would like to SM for a particular show- if you can
come along to this then Elli will be briefing you all. Please please
try and make it and let me know via email if you are going to be
there or if you want to but can&rsquo;t be and I can arrange a time
to sort things with you.

Lighting and Make up workshops- just a reminder, there are a couple
of places left on these if you want to hone your skills in either of
these areas drop me an email- if you want to come along just for
interest then feel free to- you don&rsquo;t necessarily have to be
doing either of these things during the festival. Make up on Monday
16th Jan 7.30-9 at The Garage, Lighting Tuesday 17th 7-9 at City
College Drama Studio.

Stewarding- If you would like to steward for any of the shows, we
need people who are willing to dress up/ be a character/make front of
house interesting. Ben has very kindly offered to sort who is
stewarding when, so if you are interested drop him an email at
Johndoe@rescueteam.com <mailto:jondoe@rescureteam.com> and let him
know which night(s) you can do and what you are planning to look
like! It&rsquo;s your chance to be nice to the audience, see the
shows for free and be the character you have always wanted to be. We
need at least two each night so you can always sign up with a friend
if you are the shy type.

Launch event- Tues 31st Jan is the launch/preview event at Take 5.
If anyone wants to be a character at this and/or welcome people on

Publicity event- subject to the police not objecting (!) we will be
in the city centre on Saturday 28th Jan harassing the general public

Auditions

If you have ambitions to be in the limelight then come along to The Garage on Friday 28^th October from 7-9.30pm for your chance to be a part of Norwich’s newest festival.

Visceral Theatre are producing the Chrysalis Arts Festival which will take place in Norwich in February 2006. The Festival will showcase over 20 local groups presenting theatre, dance, film, puppetry, visual arts and more. Several productions are seeking cast members and will be auditioning on the 28^th.

Actors and dancers are needed for a wide range of productions: explore Wonderland with an abnormal Alice, crawl out from under your dust sheet and investigate the attic or discuss the intricacies of life, death, love and sex in a tent on the battlefield.

Experienced actors are welcome but we would also encourage people who have never done anything like this before to come along and have a go. Visceral Theatre are also keen to hear from anyone who would like to be part of the festival team in any capacity from backstage to publicity.

So, just looking for some info about the Land of the Dead thing at UCI on Friday. I heard there was a midnight showing, but the latest seems to be 23.30. Yes, I reliese there will be about half an hour of adverts and the film will be on at midnight, but I can't find any info and the dressing up thing.

SO I'll be away for the weekend, with no internet!!. I hate that. Still when we return, Emma will have moved in. Which is great, 'cos it means we can avoid the heavy lifting of stuff. Hehe.

Also, advanced warning on Friday the 9th of september We're going to Sick & Twisted for my birthday (actually monday the 12th), and on Saturday 10th to the Belgium Monk for drinks. Times and stuff will follow.

Do you have a plan?

Visceral Theatre company are producing a theatre festival, which will take place on the 9th, 10th and 11th February 2006.

If you are a director, writer, actor, producer or techie, or have always wanted to be one then we would love to hear from you. We are seeking proposals for short theatrical* productions, maximum half an hour long, for the festival programme
If you would like to find out more please email visceraltheatre@yahoo.co.uk We are happy to give info and advice on coming up with a production and putting a proposal together. Proposals need to be in by Friday 26th August.

Even if (especially if) you've never done anything like this before you can get involved. If you don't have a specific idea, just email us and and tell us you want to do something. Tell us what your good at (costume, makeup, tech stuff, badgering people, designing flyers, Poi, hopping, picking your nose, going 'aaaaa') and we will do our very best to get you involved.

* The term ‘theatrical’ is used in its broadest sense and can include drama, physical theatre, dance, poetry, film, visual art and music.

Thought I'd update, becasue hey, I'm quirky likt that.

What's going on in the world of Dan? I heer you say. Well, I'm working for a company called The Russell Organization, in a warehouse. It's a blast. I clean lots of Vans and sometimes drive them.

I have also finished the Alice in Wonderland adaption which took a while and was painful as I had to hack out loads to keep it technically possible and keep the running time down to about an hour, so when you come and see it (which you will, yes I'm talking to YOU!) sorry if I've cut out your faveorite bit, but I've had to cut mine too, so it's fair. We're doing Alice as part of a festival of stuff (we haven't come up with a name yet) involving differant performing arts (Drama, Music, Dance, Art and stuff). Our basic idea is to get people to come along becasue they're intrested in one of the things, but whilst they're there they'll see stuff they haven't seen before. Its on february 9th, 10th and 11th, if you fancy doing somthing for it, drop me a line. We will provide: Venue (The GArage), Full technical support (not based in india!), Stage management and back stage team, FOH team and programmes, space for auditions and pubicity for them to, and full colur posters and publicity for the event. Proposal's but August the 26th please. We're looking for all sorts, the only real restriction is is can't be more than 30 mins. So, yeah, email me if you have an idea.

In other news, we're getting a new housemate, Emma, she'll be moving in in the next couple of weeks. Seems cool and clean. Which is good.

And I've been playing a lot of Rome: Total War! which is fun.

So, lost my job, at no notice and still dunno why. Sux ass. Deciding I need to start working on a 'career'. Ideally I wanna work in theatre or similar. Or become a Drama teacher or, preferably lecturer. But to do that I need a degree, which involves becoming a student, loads of money and an inherant risk.

So, that ideas is rapidly (and depressingly) going down the pan. Dunno what else I wanna do, toying with the idea of 'Paramedic', but I don't really know.

Yesterday I worked in a warehouse with Manuel from Fawlty Towers. No, really.

Then in the evening, went to see 'Revenge of the Sith' with some peeps. Pretty Dark really. Fun, lot's of light saber action, could have done with a bit more Vader stuff at the end, but overall enjoyable.

Chains tonight, rehersal tommorrow. Job hunting next week.

Quandary. Let's say, your about to set up your wireless network, when you reliese you are already attached to a network, and the internet, even though you have no other connection other than the wireless one. So clearly you're jacking a neighbours wireless connectin. SO do I spend hours trying to figure out which of my neighbours it is, in order to help them protect their network (and allow me to set up my own), or do I just continue to jack theirs on the ground that if they are dumb enough to not secure the network, they will never figure it out?

This week mainly consistsed of 'de Sade' it was fun. Forty people the first night, about 80 the second. It would have been nice do to a longer run, but there you go, beggers can't be choosers and all that. No particular hiccups during either of the runs. It was pretty straight forward really, I was expecting the production to be more surreal when we started, but we ended up with a pretty straight forward play, fun but not overly exciting. Which has spurred me onto get writing on my full on surreal explosion of theatre. That'll be fun. More details on that soon. maybe.

In other news on wednesday our new TV arrived. The delivery guys could barely fit it in the house. 28 inches of pure electron smashing fun. Today me and Tarn are going to buy a new sofa and a DVD player (because tarn got the Lord of the Rings 12 disc box-set yesterday)

Off to UCI at 8.30 to watch hitchikers if anyone wants to join?

Morning Kids!!

Yes, after a bit of an LJ break, I've decided to return. Hope you have all been well, I've been dropping in a reading from time to time, but I'm not gonna ever catch up on the last 3 months of all your lives, but I'm sure you've been having fun.

So, what's been going on with me I hear you ask. Well, I've got a new job working for The Stationary Office. It's tele-sales (again), but it's well chilled out and quite easy. We also have internet access, which is nice.

Shit, it's been 4 month since I updated, not 3. Wow.

In the rest of my life, I'm currently rehersing 2 plays: de Sade, which we're doing next week at the Art's Centre (Tuesday and Wednesday - Tickets from The Arts Centre and Kulture Shock £5 normal people £4.50 scum (Not YOU!))

The other one is Only in the Woods: A Misdummers Night Dream, along with HeadCube (yeah, yeah, I can't remember how to do the LJ user thing, blow me). Which is fun, we're both playing Faries, but not your average Faries mind, double hard-bastard Faries. Oh yes. That's going on in June. More details nearer the time.

So, rehersing 2 plays at once means I don't really have time to do much else, which sux, but after next week down to one play, which will be nice and relaxed.

Have been trying to do some writing, but the insane rehersal schedule has stopped this happening, hopfully I'll get some stuff down in the next couple of weeks.

..and that pretty much brings us up to date, I promise to try to update more than previously...haha.

Finally: What's the similarity between a Slinky and a Chav?

They're both kinda pointless, but it's fun to watch 'em fall down stairs!

"Jet of Blood" by Antonin Artuad was written during the surrealist movement and is rarely performed as it makes no sense whatsoever. Visceral Theatre, a voluntary collective of performers, have taken on the challange.

They've abandoned scripts, thier sanity and their dignity. The upside of this is that it means they can mix a radio show, a urinal, argentine tango, metal, rock and classical, street dance, contemporary dance, film and drama all together in one pot of theatre-y goodness.

Well, it's been a while since the last one, so you ain't getting all the event's of the last few weeks.

I've been bumming around and working in warehouses. Mainly.

Also there was the Quality Ferryboat gig, which was much quality and the Video is on it's way...followed by the party, which took a while to recover from (woke up Tuesday morning, started to roll a fag, turned on TV, discovered I'd already had a fag in my hand, couldn't get the fucker to light, relized it was just a stick of filters. (reminder: Look at BOTH ends)).

Chains was, as ever, quality, Lee's set was funny as. That walking in the Air remix was just awesome (although I am slightly biased by the fact my Mum brought me the single when I was, like, 5, so it was really the first single I ever owned (I'm sure I swore I'd never put that in writing). Post Chains was fun, round Elle & D's. Got the best reaction ever from Froggy to my current Mathmatical connundrum. Which is really fun, cos in Confuses normal preople and really annoy's Mathmaticians. (Who know it's all LIES). Next time you see me, ask me, and I'll explain it too you.

Right, yeah other than that Mooching, really, and for those of we have not been able to give an Invite to:

A bit of an update

Ok, so I haven't updated in bloody ages, been going through a bit of a down period, kinda wallowing in the pointlessness of it all. But I'm feeling better. I hate feeling down, but it happens sometimes.

Decided I need to be more active. Had a dream last night, can't remember anything about it apart from someone saying to me "Yeah, well you talk alot, but you don't do shit."

Basically I think I need to be more active. IE, maybe a bit less smoking? Hehe.
